Gulgong 10 Dollar Day

gulgong__10

The introduction of the Decimal Currency in 1966 resulted in Gulgong being known as the ‘Town on the Ten Dollar Note’

50th year celebrations in Gulgong will start with an organised bicycle ride at 8.30 am and continue throughout the day finishing off with meals and music in the evening. The historic buildings of Gulgong and the well know bush poet Henry Lawson were depicted on the original 1966 $10 note. To date there has not been another town featured on any Australian Bank note.

Motivated by the Gulgong Holtermann Museum Committee, Gulgong local business, museums, pubs, clubs, restaurants and community groups have come together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Australian decimal currency. So bring your family, friends and Valentine to enjoy a good family day together.
